WITNESS THE EXECUTION OF AN INNOCENT MAN
MURDER - TEXAS STYLE
My name is Michael Toney. Most people call me Cowboy. I'm on Texas death row awaiting execution for a crime I did not commit.
In May of 1999, I was convicted of capital murder-multiple victims (bombing). This crime occured in Lake Worth, Texas on Thanksgiving 1985. I didn't even hear about this terrible crime until June of 1997 when another man told me about it. I didn't even know when it happened until my indictment on December 4th of 1997. I didn't know where it happened until a month or so prior to the charade of a Texas trial. I didn't know the victims and I have never in my life been to the scene of this crime. I told another man what I was told about the bombing and the man I told about it used the information to get himself out of a bind by using the info as a bargaining tool. The problem is he didn't tell the truth. He added his own twist to the story.. This information caused me to become a suspect. While the Texas authorities and the A.T.F. agents were investigating me as a suspect they located my ex-wife that I hadn't seen in 10 years and an old friend that I hadn't seen since 1986. The authorities told these two about a substantial reward which without a doubt motivated them to commit the perjury that got me sentenced to death for a crime another man told me about. "Lies got me sentenced to death for a crime I did not commit".
After the trial some people contacted me with information as to who did commit this horrible crime and why it was done. This crime was the longest running investigation in the history of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and was featured on the television shows "America's Most Wanted and "Unsolved Mysteries". My name wasn't even mentioned in the 12+ year investigation until August of 1997. The case has been closed but the crime has not been solved. The authorities refuse to re-open the investigation.
This bombing took the lives of three people, Joe Blount, his daughter Angela and Michael Columbus.
If my death will give the survivors of Joe and Angela Blount and Michael Columbus some satisfaction and what was once a normal life back, so be it... Shouldn't any of us be willing to give up life to give life?
I won't be the first to give my life so that others may have life. Jesus Christ gave His life so that all of us can have eternal life.
There were many serious questions that I have had to find answers to before making this ultimate decision.
Is it right for me to give my life and therefore cause the true murderers of the Blounts to escape the bands of justice? My first answer was "NO"'.!, but then I had to go a little deeper...
As long as I stand wrongfully convicted of this crime the true murderers will remain free but no one can escape justice forever. Our God says "vengence is mine'. The true murderers of the Blounts can never escape God's judgement.
I know my death can never give Joe,
Angela or Michael life. I really don't believe my death will give anyone
their once normal life back but it may give them a moments pleasure. I
don't believe thats morally right but the survivors of the Blounts and
Columbus want me put to death because they believe I took the lives of
their loved ones. Thats wrongfully directed vengence. All vengeance is
wrong,..but when its directed at the innocent there is nothing worse. I
forgive them for they know not the truth. I forgive the people that prosecuted
me full well knowing I am innocent also. I also forgive the people that
commited the perjury that got me convicted and susequently sentenced to
death for a crime
I did not commit.
THEIR ETERNAL SOULS ARE IN OUR LORDS HANDS.
I waited until after March 15th of 2000
to make this ultimate decision because a person that I have hated for more
than 20 years was executed in California on that day. Derrell Rich was
executed for the brutal rape and murder of my childhood friend Annette
Selix. My best friend. The course of my life was forever altered
in 1978. Hatred is a heavy load to carry for some 22 years. I
know the hatred that the survivors
of the Blounts and Columbus carry. I was never able to forgive the man.
I didn't receive any pleasure by his death. If anything his execution opened
wounds that had never really healed. I hope and pray things are different
for Annette's mother Sharon, her step father David and her two sisters.
I heard they had a party on the day of the execution. Maybe, the
Blounts will do the same.
GOD FORGIVE THEM.
My own family has stated; "we buried
Michael the day he was sentenced".
So it seems they have dealt with my
death beforehand. There will be people hurt by my death but I will have
an opportunity that most others don't. I will be able to comfort them before
the time comes and I will be able to make them understand and respect my
decision.
It is against Texas law for a person
who has been convicted of a crime to profit from the crime itself. I have
absolutely no intention of profiting from a crime I did not commit.
However, I have a responsibility to my two beautiful daughters.
I have a right to choose 5 people to
witness my execution. In this case I don't care for the term "execution",
because its not an execution when the person being put to death is innocent.
Its murder!!!
"STATE OF TEXAS SANCTIONED MURDER"
The means of which I choose the 5 people to witness my murder is also up to me. I choose to choose who them 5 will be by taking bids on each of the 5 seats. The 5 highest bidders will be asked to donate the amount of their bid to my children. The funds will be put into a trust that only my children can access when they come of legal age.
I don't know what kind of people would
donate money to watch an innocent man be murdered. However, I do
know there are people out there that will.
I figure they will be one or the other
of two types.
#1 A compassionate person that understands what I am doing and wishes to help my children overcome the obstacle of of their fathers death.
#2 "Sadists"!!!, need I say more about that ? Unfortunately sadists are not in short supply in this cold cruel world of which we temporarily reside.
I will thank the compassionate and I will forgive tbe sadists.
As I said in the begining, I will prove to you without a doubt that I am INNOCENT. Since the charade of a Texas trial people have came forward and told me who killed the Blounts and why they did it. I will tell you all of this including who the real murderers are. You will have the opportunity to visit with me so I can tell you all of this while you look into my eyes. I will answer all of your questions and will answer TRUTHFULLY. If you choose not to see me in person this can be done by correspondence.
My goal is not only to own up to my responsibility as to my children of which I have neglected for some 13 years. That is my number one priority and I hope to rectify some of that neglect before my death.
My next hope is to shed some light on the injustices of this country and especially the injustices of Texas. I know that innocent people are being executed. It does happen and its more often than most care to acknowledge. This must change!!! Kevin Doyle a capital defender in New York says that "Some believe that a 1% margin of error in executions is acceptable,...However, If you were to go to the FAA with a plane and tell them that this plane is known to cause or almost cause fatalities in one of every one hundred landings... They'd say you're..NUTS!!!!"
THIS MUST CHANGE...
I HOPE WE'RE ABLE TO
EXPOSE SOME OF THESE FACTS AND INJUSTICES.
Once the 5 highest donors are determined and accepted I will withdraw my right to appeal this wrongful conviction. About 6 months later I will be given a murder date. My murder will take place within the next month or so at 6:00 pm in Huntsville,Texas by lethal injection. For any of you who may be sadists, I will provide you with proof that the lethal injection is not the painless and humane death that most believe it is. I will also supply you with a detailed description of my feelings of knowing I will be murdered. I will even tell you how It feels as I draw my last breath... If possible.
For obvious reasons I will not permit
members of the prosecution to bid on these 5 seats. I believe theirs are
provided by the murderous State of Texas.
I have no doubt what so ever that the
people that prosecuted would like to murder me with their own hands just
to get me to shut up...
I know that the auctioning of witness to murder seats is unheard of but I assure you it is legitimate. What could be more serious that death?
I have never murdered anyone. I haven't been a good person but I'm not a murderer.
