May you find serenity
and tranquility in a world you may not always fully understand
May the pain you have
known and the conflict you have experienced give you the strength
To walk through life
facing each new situation with courage and optimism.
Always know that there
are those whose love and understanding will always be there
Even when you feel most
alone.
May you discover
enough goodness in others to believe in a world of Peace.
May a kind word and a
reassuring touch , a warm smile, be yours every day of your life
And may you give these
gifts as well as receive them.
Remember the sunshine
when the storm seems unending.
Teach love to those who
know hate, and let that love embrace you as you go into the world
May the teachings of
those you admire become a part of you, so that you may call upon them.
Remember, those whose
lives you have touched, and who have touched yours, are always
A part of you, even if
the encounters were less than you would have wished.
It is the content of
the encounter that is far more important than its form.
May you not become too
concerned with material matters,
But instead place immeasurable
value on the goodness in your heart.
Find the time in each
and every day to see all of the beauty and love in the world around you
Realize that each person
has limitless abilities, but each of us different in our own way.
What you feel you lack
in the present may become one of your strengths in the future.
May you see your future
as one that is filled with promise and possibility
Learn to view everything
as a worthwhile experience
May you find enough inner
strength to determine your own worth by yourself
And not be dependant
on anothers judgement of your accomplishments
May you always feel loved….
These are my wishes for
you,
Always with love, your
forever friend Eddie

EVERYONE NEEDS SOMEONE
People need people and friends need friends
And we all need love for a full life depends
Not on vast riches or great acclaim
Not on success or on worldly fame
For only the knowledge that we are understood
Makes everyday living feel wonderfully good
And we rob ourselves of lifes greatest need
When we lock up our hearts and fail to heed
The outstretched hand reaching to find
A kindred spirit whose heart and mind
Are lonely and longing to somehow share
Our joys and our sorrows to make us aware
That lifes completeness and richness depends
On things that we share with our love ones and friends.

MARTIN GROSSMAN'S PEN-PAL REQUEST:
An open plea for honest and compassionate contact. Hi my name is Martin Edward Grossman, friends call me Eddie. I am a single 35 year old white male poet standing 6'4" and weighing 250 pounds, eyes are brown, hair is raven black. I am a death row prisoner still fighting for my life - been down since Christmas of 1984. Poetry is a passion of mine reading and music also. Looking to make friends via snail mail with whom I can express and share views, opinions and concerns with age and gender, race, are all of obvious nonconcern. If you are open and willing to reach into my world of doom and dread, then I must reply to you ! Here is one of my poems that I offer in friendship : "By My Side" I ask that you not shed any tears for me but only become my friend Wishing that through time we could somehow become much more And with your love and support I now know that I can make it til the end Please just understand sometimes are hard and that somethings do go wrong But with you standing by my side the time won't seem so long The times that I cry, I always think of you and then the tears go right away For its your love that makes me strong enough to face any day And when I need your kind, loving words I feel them striving deep in my heart They give me reasons to go on with life no matter what it may hold Like a new start - Eddie 1990
