                                   On Alabama's Death Row
Hello my name is James Johnson.  On june 2, 1999 I was sentenced to death by
 electrocution for the 1995 murder/robbery of Mrs. Mary Lawson at BP gas
station which is located on old U.S. Highway 78 in Jasper, Alabama.
This is a crime that I did not commit.  I have told law officials this from the time of my arrest.  I was arrested, while already incarcerated at the Walker County Jail for a crime that I pleaded guilty for.   I was offered a plea bargain which I did not take.  The plea bargain was this: I plead guilty to robbery and the 1995
murder/robbery of Mrs. Lawson.  I would receive 2 life sentences ran together (concurrently) so that there is only 1 life sentence with parole possibility in 10 years.  There was no physical evidence that linked me or could link me to this murder/robbery of Mrs. Lawson.   How could there be when I didn't commit this crime.  The state presented several so called witnesses (these are not witnesses that placed me at the scene of the crime, again, how could there be when I wasn't there. Who was serving time at the Walker County Jail or in the Alabama Penal System.  Who made several inconsistent statements within their testimony.  May I also point out that all of these so-called witnesses had something to gain from giving their perjured testimony.  The state also presented an eye witness who I was in jail with.  Who gave several inconsistent that proved that his testimony was truly perjured.  Like on the day of the crime, he was seen in direct vicinity of BP.  When asked if he's seen anything his answer was NO !   This he maintained several times.  He was later arrested for parole or probation violation he was asked the same question, he again saw nothing !     During the course of the following week or months he was questioned on different occasions. On one of these occasions  he says he saw Ira Morris and a black male running out of BP.  When asked if he knew if I was the other black male he said he didn't know.  There is more to his testimony
as well as others that I have included in a summary brief that I have prepared that contains only factual information about this case.   My purpose of writing this is because I need your help to save my life.   I do not have the finances to hire a competent defense attorney that specializes in Capitol Offenses, neither do I have all of the necessary things that I need to keep up this case campaign.  If you would like to receive one of my summary brief i will be more than glad to send you one.    I don't ask you to take my words for what I say but the facts speak for itself.  If you would be willing to help by xeroxing papers, computer

JAMES JOHNSON    Hi ,  My name is James Johnson.  I am a 26 years old black male.   With strong belief in Jesus Christ and my spirituality.   Who has nothing to hide about my past, present and goals that I would like to accomplish in the future.   I am innocent of the crime that has placed me on death row.  I can
prove what I say with factual information.   Although I am innocent that makes me no better than any man or woman on death row, in prison or out in society.
