Patterson-Profile of a Wrongful Conviction
Aaron Patterson is an African-American
facing execution for the 1986 homicide of a Chicago couple.
His conviction was based on an unsigned 'confession' obtained through
torture. Police in Chicago's Area 2 Violent Crimes Unit
kicked and struck Patterson, suffocated him, and interrogated him for 25
hours with no attorney present. The 'confession', written by
police was not signed by Patterson. There is no physical or circumstantial
evidence against him. More than 40 black men were tortured with electric
shocks, suffocation hoods, Russian roulette, burns,
severe beatings, and threats of
death during a 12 year period,
resulting in the dismissal of a lieutenant in 1993.
Aaron has garnered international support, including support from Bianca
Jagger.

David is a recent death
row inmate in Texas. He and his supporters insist that he is innocent,
and that there are many witnesses who were ready to testify that the real
killer confessed to them. David's court appointed attorney never bothered
to call many of these witnesses, as well as not investigating important

Rogers - Sentenced to Death in Florida, and California
Glen
Rogers was sentenced to death in Florida in 1997. Just days later
he was sentenced to death for seperate charges in California. Charges
are pending in several other states. Glen has two young sons, Johnathon
and Clinton Rogers, who were born in the late 70s and raised in foster
care. Glen is looking for help in finding them so he can give them
a letter written to them from their mother, who died at the age of 29 of
heart failure related to crack cocaine abuse. Glen's page includes

W. Chambers - Missouri's Death Row
James
is the only prisoner on death row in America for a death resulting from
a bar fight.He is on death row for shooting Jerry Oestriker in a tavern
brawl in Arnold, Missouri in 1982. There was considerable evidence, much
of it unheard by the jury, that he acted in self defense after being struck
and stabbed by the victim. Even viewing the case in the light most favorable
to the prosecution, the facts established that this was not a premeditated

Junior Brown - North Carolina
Dawud Abdullah Muhammad
(Born David Junior Brown), has been on North Carolina's death row
for 19 years. The
police investigation appears to have been conducted solely on the basis
that Brown was guilty and to have ignored all other possible suspects,
including David Ray Martin, who admitted
that he had arranged
to go out with Diane Chalflinch on the weekend she was killed, but that
she 'stood him up' ...Martin has subsequently been convicted of another
murder ! The time frame that Brown had to commit the murders
appears totally unrealistic. At all other times, Brown was in the
company of witnesses who could provide him with an alibi.

Steven Miller has been on death row in Indiana since 1991. He is
in the process of preparing for his Federal Appeals. His page includes
