Introduction From Danielle . . .
Hello there every one. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Danielle Hunter. I am 15 years old and I go to Dante Alighieri Academy.
I am grade nine now and as it requires for
all grade nines to prepare and write an ISU.
If you are wondering what an ISU is, well let
me tell you!!
Well it is like an essay but you have to prepare articles and and essay attached and you are marked out of 200 for the whole thing and it is work I think about 20 percent of my final mark! So it is worth a lot and I know that I had to do it and I was looking on the internet for some information on the death penalty and I found this site and Tracy helped me with everything that has to do with this essay.
Tracy also helped my friend Steven Borges. He also did his ISU on the death penalty. He also has to thank Tracy for such good information, graphs and great articles and amazing sites to visit to get fabulous stuff for anything that has to do with capital punishment and the death penalty.
It was a lot of fun writing this essay and
fun working with someone as co-operative person, Tracy. I would like
to recommend her to anyone who needs help with writing and essay. And if
you as an individual, need any help you can e-mail with your questions
and
I will be so glad and honoured to help you!
(email: dania@idirect.ca )
Thank you for reading my essay and for visiting this site! It rocks huh!
Well again thanks a bunch Tracy!
Enjoy the site and enjoy the essay. But
if you are wanting to use any information please tell me before you are going
to use it. I don't want to get in trouble for it. Thank you!

Capital punishment is an issue, which
is still largely talked about even
after it has been banned in Canada. The
death penalty is a cruel form of
punishment and should be abolished in the
United States of America as it has
been in Canada. (Lamourie, 10) There
are many ways in which to explain how
the death penalty came to be and what methods
are used in order to attempt
this bloodthirsty way to kill a person.
To this are, two sides to the story.
The pros and the cons. By understanding
how the death penalty came to be,
through its history.
The earliest historical history
records that capital punishment has been
recorded is in the Code of Hammurabi in
1750 BC. In this time of 1750 BC,
about three hundred different crimes were
recorded ranging from murder to
rape. (Bedau, 3) The death penalty
was abolished in Canada in the year of
1976. The last person to be put on death
row in Canada was in 1962. Capital
punishment is still performed all over the
United States of America. Such
places are Texas, Florida, Utah, Ohio, New
York, Kansas, Virginia, and
Arizona. The cold-blooded way to perform
these deaths is done by many
specific methods.
As we go forth into the future,
the list of methods to kill people will
become larger but there are seven main ways
of killing the convicted.
Hanging is one. If conducted properly, the
neck will break. To this method
death comes quickly. The electric chair
is when a convict is strapped into a
chair and an electric current is passed
through its body. The exact time of
death is unknown but four to ten minutes
is reasonable. Firing squad is the
most disgusting of them all. It is when
several marksmen shoot the convict
right in the heart. Death comes as quickly
as the bullet hits the
defenseless heart. The gas chamber is when
cyanide is dropped into acid
producing hydrogen cyanide, an intensely
dangerous, sanguinary gas. It takes
various minutes of misery and agony before
the convict dies. Lethal
injection is when a lethal gas is place
into the convict strapped down to
the table. Guillotine is a famous
French invention and it is also a form of
punishment. It severs the neck and death
comes rapidly. Finally stoning is
the last on the list. It is when the convict
is standing and people throw
rocks at him or her. This is used mostly
in Muslim countries as a punishment
for murder, adultery and other crimes.
The pro side of capital punishment
is seen by a lot of people. Some common
reasons for them believing in the death
penalty is as follows. The Bible. To
them the Bible requires the death penalty
for a wide range of crimes, murder
and homosexual behavior. Justice and vengeance
because many people believe that killing the convicted will satisfy their
need to feel safe.
(Lamourie, 8) They now feel safe because
if the convicted dies, he or she
will never kill again.
A more wide range of population
sees the con side of capital punishment.
Some common reasons for the public to feel
this way is the way the capital
punishment has an effect on society. Capital
punishment lowers the value of
a human life and brutalizes our society.
The value of a human life is some
thing that has a special meaning to us.
Even though a person has murdered
some one, where do we as a community get
off killing some one? God made our lives, and He should be the only one to
take it away from us.
As we come to reach the millennium, we
come to notice that the problem of
capital punishment has still not been resolved
in the United States of
America as it has in Canada, in 1976. The
method in which to carry out this
type of torture is unbearable, yet multiplies
day by day. As the different
sides of this matter as is, pro and con.
Whether an individual decides to be
for or against the strong issue. It is up
to them. By killing someone, you
are making yourself even worse that the
convicted murder. Be the better
person and help to try to bring a halt to
capital punishment and the death
penalty. Do it for the future generations.
They will appreciate what us, as
a strong community would have done for them.
