My name is Donald Beaty, I'm 45 years old, 6'1", brown hair and blue eyes.
In May of 1984 I was arrested and charged with the murder of a young lady.
Prior to my arrest the news media had a field day with the murder because the
young lady worked for one of the major newspapers, and because the police
department had failed to make an immediate arrest, the public and news media
were asking the police chief to resign. My arrest caused a great deal of
concern, because it was clear the police were arresting me to get the media off
their back....to this day, I have maintained my innocence and can only pray the
TRUTH comes out one day. Police destroyed major evidence while doing their
testing, they failed to keep proper records and threatened witnesses not to
testify or to testify falsely. In the first trial the jury did not convict me because
the evidence did not show I committed the murder. But here in the United
States the law allows the prosecutor to seek a RE-TRIAL if one juror votes to
convict. ....People are fooling themselves if they think the death penalty deters
crimes, such as murder. If that was true, our government would give out the
death penalty for all other crimes. People are not giving all those who
murder the death penalty. We have become a society that discriminates
against the poor and because funds are not provided to hire good attorneys
those defendants cannot receive proper representation and expert witnesses
who can do the testing needed. We live in a world where people call
themselves "Christians" but they fail to follow God's laws and God's words.
People always point to one part of scripture, "EYE FOR EYE, TOOTH FOR
TOOTH" But God said "Don't repay evil for evil. Wait for the Lord to handle
the matter." (Proverbs 20:22) and (1 Thessalonians 5:15) The death penalty only seeks to avenge and God says "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves
but rather give place unto wrath : for it is written, "Vengeance is mine", I will
repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:19 and Leviticus 19:18). People believe
because I was convicted of such a crime and sit on death row they know me.
How far from the truth that is. In 1977, the night after singer ELVIS PRESLEY
died in Memphis, I was in front of Graceland (Elvis Presley's home) when three
young ladies were hit by a drunk driver. That night I helped save the life of one
of the young ladies because "life" means so much to me. Why would I take a
life if life means so much to me. In the past I may have been involved in
receiving stolen property but I AM NOT A MURDERER. (Visit homepage) for

and we are not on the earth forever. Our world is falling apart because we have
stopped caring for each other, and about the issues in the world. The death
penalty is wrong because it does not deter crime and it is not applied fairly.
