         Death Row, Texas

This photo was made on 15 September 2000 here at the Charles T. Terrell / Death Row Unit.
I am a 25 year old Boer - German - Cherokee descendant who has lived all of his life in Texas.
I stand 6'5", 210 lbs., and have blue - gray - green eyes that change colors with my mood.

Spiritual things are most important to me.  I've studied many different religions, trying to find
truth, but  I only feel more confused.   My parents raised me in Christianity, which is what I
often revert to; its familiar and comfortable.  I still don't know the truth, do any of us ?
We can only believe one thing or another; none of it is known to be true.  Each teaches us
to believe, and that must be the key to religion; belief in something beyond our body and the
environment that surrounds us with its familiarity and solidness.

I've been on death row since 13 February 1995 for accidentally shooting a man on 14 June 1993.  Initially, I was so guilt ridden that I didn't wish to appeal this sentence of death, thinking it was just punishment for my crime.

However, I was later convinced to fight by a determined attorney, Mandy Welch.
She believed in my cause, my innocence of capital murder, and has been fighting to win
back my life since her appointment to represent me.

Email her at: mandy@burrandwelch.com

Growing up in a small town known as Cason, which is nestled in "The Piney Woods" of
northeastern Texas, I enjoyed anything dealing with the out - of - doors; fishing hunting,
canoeing, camping, swimming (though I'm a terrible swimmer who is often afraid of the
water), and simply observing nature all around me.

Since I've been on death row I've tried to better myself and explore the parameters of my
newfound writing talents.  I am endeavouring to learn german, which is very difficult in this
environment.  Prior to this plunge into foreign languages, I studied the law religiously, hoping
to make myself useful to those less fortunate, that is, those condemned men whose lawyers
were incompetent and refused to give their best efforts to save their clients' lives.
I'm no F. Lee Bailey or Johnny Cochrane, but I do my best.   I still do some work when
someone needs my meager abilities.  Seeing my research benefit someone is extremely
rewarding.

My interests are :  cars (rebuilding and maintaining domestic cars or trucks), electronics
(repairing and modifying), anything outdoors, reading fine literature, astronomy, medical
science, dreams and what they might mean (if anything), the unusual or mysterious (UFO's,
paranormal, telepathy, etc,) and many other things that we can explore when you decide to
write.

I am seeking friendships that will last, and, if at all possible, financial assistance to aid my
attorney in continuing her fight to save my life.  A man shouldn't have to die for an accident.
Just 1$ from you could make all the difference in whether I live or die.  If you are able to
contribute to my legal defense fund, please send your contribution to :
