Donald Beaty
Donald Beaty is a
death row prisoner in the state of Arizona. He was the maintenance
supervisor in an apartment complex in May of 1984 when a young girl
who worked for one of the cities major newspapers went missing.
Beaty found her body and he claims that the police were pressured into
making a quick arrest after media called for the resignation of the police
chief in frustration for the killer not having been found. Page includes

Diagnosed as suffering
from various mental illnesses, including paranoid schizophrenia. He suffers
from auditory and visual hallucinations, delusions and paranoia. Treated
with anti psychotic medication for more than a decade, he has sometimes
refused treatment, because he believed that he was not ill or
that the drugs were poison.
In 1985, a psychologist for the state estimated Amaya Ruiz's IQ to be
in the region

More than three years
ago, On Dec. 6, 1995, an innocent man came within hours of being executed
for
a murder he did not
commit. Paris Carriger had been on Arizona's death row since 1978. The
real murderer, whose false testimony had convicted Carriger, confessed
to the crime in 1987. But the
Arizona courts refused
to grant him a new trial saying he had exhausted his rights to appeal
!
Because there were
no technical deficiencies in the state case, the federal courts had declined
to intervene even as late as Nov. 30, 1995. At the last moment, a three-judge
panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued
a stay of execution.

Convention on Consular Rights, the U.S. government has the obligation
of informing any foreign citizen arrested on U.S. soil of their consular
rights, but often violates the convention.

LaGrand was the 1st German citizen executed in the United States
since World War II, when several
prisoners of war were hanged. LaGrand apologized to the
family of his victim and to a woman injured during the robbery.

I enjoy reading books that are both fiction and non fiction.
I enjoy reading everything except romance novels. I have no favourite
author to speak of. What do you like to read? I also
enjoy reading poetry. My favourite poets are D.H Lawrence, Robert Frost,
and WB Yeats. Who are your favourite poets?
I also really enjoy listening to music. I favour the oldie
but goodies stations that play Creedence Clearwater, James Taylor, Mamas

Claude Maturana, Mental ability
of a 9 year-old child
He
died during surgery - December 26, 2002
He died on December 26, 2002 while undergoing surgery. Diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic,
Claude was being treated by authorities in Arizona so he could be declared "mentally competent"
and executed. Maturana's mental condition had deteriorated considerably since the time
of his incarceration. " He was 'so far gone'...He talked daily about visits from his mother who died 30
years ago and believed that he was already dead." As usual, Arizona authorities violated US obligations under international law by refusing to allow a foreign citizen the right to contact their government for assistance upon arrest. (See: Article
