BILLY JOHN GALLOWAY Age: 36 Date of Birth: March 22, 1969 Weight: 210  Sentence: Death Hello, how are you doing out there? I hope all is well and going your way. About myself: Ii was born in Chemung New York. I then moved with my Dad to Houston, Texas. I was 4 years old. We stayed for 32 years from there we moves to North folk Virginia. And once again only stayed there a few years. And from there we moved to Soux Falls, South Dakota where we remained until I wound up here. I have been on death row for a little over 5 years. I landed on this Unit March 27, 2000. Now about my daily routine/ I work out 5 days a week. I felt it is important to do this for the simple fact that to me laying around doing nothing and being lazy is a sign of giving up and I am not a quitter! So even though I am skip a day now and then on working out, I still go to recreation every day. Just to get out of this cell 23 hours a day. And every day you get one hour of recreation in the day room or outside. We go outside 2 times a week. Rain or shine I’m there. When in my cell I listen to my radio and draw or read or write poems. I just started drawing again. Sometimes I wish I would have just left it alone. But it is something I like to do and I can go at it and get lost for hours. I like to read horror books and true crime novels. I like Stephen King, James Petterson, Clive Barker and a bunch of others. For the true crimes type novels I like John Grisham, David Baldacci. The poems I write are more therapeutic that anything. You know, my way to express myself without getting into trouble. My hobbies in the free world were four wheeling in this big black 1979 Ford Bronco that could and would go into and through everything. There was not anything I would not try in that bad boy. I liked going to the parks and kicking back. Mostly going to the falls and watching all the water. It was pretty cool. I liked hanging out with my friends and playing Hacky Sack and cooking out. Just enjoying the days.I like taking roads trips because they were pretty much spur of a moment type things and you never really knew where you would end up. I like kicking it with my dogs. I had a couple of Rottweilers this last time. Before that I had a Pit bull. They were my kids since I don’t have any children.Anyway, I think I will wrap this up for now. Hopefully I peaked someone’s interest level a bit and if you decide to write me. I will answer all. This introductory letter may sound a bit boring but believe me I am not a boring person. The sooner you write, the sooner I will be able to answer you and you will find out that what I say is true.” I am not a boring personAll right now, you all take it easy out there and I hope to hear from someone soon…later.Respectfully yours <>

GABRIEL GONZALEZ Death Row is an arena where Political and Sociological policies of Power, Retribution, and Violence encase a man in steel and concrete until he, himself, becomes as strong as steel, and his heart as hard as concrete.  But steel is strong, yet pliable, and may change into many forms.  And a Heart of concrete still beats like thunder and Love and Life split it open to care for others, and greater Principles embodied in self and integrity.  I am a 25 year old Cuban man with a strong love for life, and people who are Real, and sincere enough to be themselves, and who care to know me.  I lived much of my life in California before coming to Texas.  I have three beautiful children who I love very much.  I enjoy working out, writing, poetry and music, as well as letters, listening to music and reading.  If you would like to know more, to really know who I am, write...
Respectfully yours,

UPDATE:     I would greatly appreciate it if you would locate me a pen pal to correspond with during my trying times of existence here within Texas death row.  I would prefer to correspond with females or men who are at least 25 years old and up.  Personally I'm a 26 year old Cuban man,  formerly residing in California.   I have 3 beautiful children also.  I have just begun my struggle within the confines of this hell hole called "death row" just 3 years ago.   I know my struggle will be long and hard, and I would simply like to be able to share thoughts and strength with anyone sincere enough to be willing to correspond with someone like myself.  Thank you sincerely, Gabriel Gonzalez # 999225  For more info visit Gabriel's webpage at http://www.ccadp.org/gabrielgonzalez.htm

MICHAEL GONZALES  April 14, 1999 - I had been told all my life that I was an animal, a loser, and would never amount to anything.   I had done a great job in living up to those words.  But, now I was out of prison, a Christian, and married to a Christian woman so a large part of my development was up to my words, that I had said when I got out.  There were many changes I went through out in the "free world" since I was very institutionalized learning to live out there was a whole new way of life for me.  Things like eating with a fork, writing a check, or just handling money legally were just a few of the challenges.  I had to learn how not to get in a fight with someone who crowded in a buffet line, and how to slow down my eating at meal time.  I was fragile to take a shower because most of the stabbings took place in the prison showers.  There were many insecurities I had to deal with.  I was arrested May 7th, 1994 on this charge.  But, if I am a cold blooded killer, what do you call the Governor - who could have shown mercy , but choose to continue on the path of a methodical serial killer with a license?  Society is caught up in the revenge factor.  The prosecutor says "I'm not the killer, I just present the facts to the jury."  The jury says, "we're not the killer, we're just triers of fact and follow the instructions of the judge."  The judge says, "I'm not the killer, I apply the law as the legislature dictates."  The legislature says, "We're  not the killer, we just make laws that the people vote on," The people say "We're not the killer, its the executioner who murders."  The executioner says, "I'm not really the killer, I carry out the law..."  I did not have any idea what love was, is, till I got to Texas Death Row, and all family, loved ones left,   forsook me, totally left me alone, in great pain, my pride, which was great, died.  My lusts (wants) for self died.  I realized that all my life I wanted, searched for love,  that which quenches the pores of the heart.  I looked and did it all the wrong ways and places not knowing any better.  Once all was taken away, family, and wife, and hope in people and this world,  I realized by Christ, that we are not meant to hope for, nor expect of this world and life. We're here to learn by experience, to become selfless to God...is love...Yet rather you endure the pain here of loneliness, to serve others, to help them to hope - that's love.  Love can never expect anything back.  If you expect, this is not love...(Real love) gives peace and joy for what is to come.  That faith helps us to endure here.  We are meant for something higher.  Yes, I know all too well how this is a battle.  For I feel lonely constantly and I just want to be held in love.  But I fight that, Christ in me fights that.  Our wrongs to others, others wrongs to us, are not because we are "evil."   Its because we are blind and lost, looking for fulfillment any way we can get it.  I
experience constant degrees of sweating, salt loss, headaches, dehydration, constant thirst, dizziness and squander great deals of time trying not to move about in the cell so as to avoid hot flashes and profuse sweating. I would love to hear from anyone!

ANTHONY GRAVES Hello my name is Anthony Graves   and I am a death row inmate in the state of Texas.   I have been on Texas death row since October of 1994. I am looking to correspond with someone whom I can trust to share my thoughts and feelings with.   Someone who will enter our friendship with an open mind and not judge me, but accept me as a person who really wish to add a friend to his life.   I am an African American, 33 years old, who considers himself handsome and intelligent. My hobbies are reading,  writing,  and listening to various kinds of music.  (Jazz, R&B, Light Rock and Blues.)  I also love to play sports and jog.  I am looking for a friend who is mature, intelligent and has a caring heart.  Death row can be a lonely experience and a struggle for mental survival.  If you can identify with any of those feelings then we already have something in common.  I am a very firm believer that everyone needs someone in their life and I need you. I am a very interesting person with a lot of character and I just need someone to share that with. "Hope to hear from you soon" Yours Truly . . .     Visit Anthony's homepage:  http://ccadp.org/anthonygraves.htm

HOWARD GUIDRY  I am currently being confined to Texas' notorious Death Row.  At 22, this is my 4th year of imprisonment, my 2nd year struggling on Death Row.  Due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding my conviction I've been unjustly stripped of freedom and placed  under this ever present veil of Death.  I am seeking a friend / pen pal who is open, sensitive, and generous at heart.  After years of being surrounded by hard concrete and steel one grows harder physically, mentally and emotionally.  The yearning inside our hearts for something, someone soft, compassionate, and supportive grows steadily round season.  If you possess a humanitarian spirit and willing to share yourself openly with me I do hope this letter strikes your interest and you or someone you know decides to respond.  In closing know that my heart is sincere and I have much to offer emotionally. I am a self proclaimed poet / artist / activist who loves meeting new people who enjoy expressing themselves on paper.  It is thru letters I hope to share my deepest feelings with you.  Luv inside the
madness,

JAMES HENDERSON Hello, haw are you doing today ?  I really hope you're fine, ask for myself, I'm doing just fine considering my situation and I'm lonely as hell, that's about it, but other than that I'm doing just wonderful.  I've been here six and a half years, and I'm still trying to find something to do! You, too?  Gotta be at least a little bored if you're skimming through here.   Check it out, maybe we can come up with something...I am James Henderson, but my friends call me JR. (or some things I better not  put here!)  The reason I'm writing as you may know I'm looking for someone to write to, correspond with, In other words a "pen friend".  If you want and feel like doing something that has anything to do with pen and paper well I have something for you to do now, and that is write to me.  If you want to do so here's some of my likes and dislikes, etc...oh! but first let me introduce myself to you...!  My name is James Henderson, and I'm a 26 year old African American from "Oklahoma," in a little town called Toms, where I was born and raised.   I have three kids, two boys and one beautiful girl.  I have 9 brothers and sisters, and my mother is still living.  I've been here on "Texas Death Row" for almost "6 years" now, and all 6 has been Hell for me.  My hobbies are writing "poems," I draw a little bit, and I love to write, especially if someone writes back.  I love sports, everything but soccer, I have no patience for it, but any other I watch.  I most of all love music, music of all kinds, you can't miss me on it.  And when I'm not doing any of these things, I'm watching TV.  I like Ricki Lake, J.A.G, sports, and some movies.  My likes, dislikes:  I love it when a person is "honest" with me, I hate to be lied to, "period."  !  I will never lie to you so please don't lie to me, this is all I ask.  I like to have fun, a lot of fun.  I love to laugh as well cry.  I don't mind sharing my feeling with anyone, so at times I expect the same.  If you ask me anything I'll answer if I can or know the answer.  I'm a very 'loyal man,' I don't hide anything from a friend nor will I tell on anyone under any 'circumstances.'  I'm just a outgoing person, I love fun and fun loves me.  So if you're interested in any of these things please write me and I'll respond right then and there if I can.  I'm looking forward to hearing from as many "penpals' as I can get, if its only one, I'll be waiting and willing to correspond with you.  If possible, I would like for the people or persons who write to me to be 25 or older, if possible from 25-70,  I would very much be thankful to hear from you. I'll be waiting. I kid around a lot, but I have a serious side, too.  If you want to have a little fun, or some deep conversations, or maybe you just need to talk, lets go.  I've got plenty of time to write back.  I'll be looking forward to hearing from you, and while I wait enjoying all the luxury of being in a cell by myself. PS. if possible, please send photo, male or female.

MICHAEL S. JESSE HERNANDEZ
My name is Jesse Hernandez and I’m from Dallas – born and raised.  I’m looking for someone who would be interested in being my pen pal to help pass the time here on the row, and keep me in touch with the outside from your view.  I’m a good listener and give good advise and I’m also a very easygoing person.  I like sports, all kinds of music, and dancing when I was able!  You know what I mean. :)  I like reading a good book, making people laugh when I can and making those laugh here on the row whenever I can too.  I’m not too good at writing introductions, but I can write good, long letters and find more to talk about once I get to know someone.  Hopefully, this will grab your attention and you’ll want to write me.  Until pen and paper meet, take care.

In a 1998 letter to Texas Governor George Bush, Alan Donnelly, Chairman
of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations, wrote the following:
"We understand that this is a complex and emotive issue, and I do not propose to rehearse here the arguments that, for us, make legal execution unacceptable under any circumstances. Suffice it to say that we believe the death penalty amounts to retribution rather than deterrence and that its use always carries with it the risk that an innocent person may die. We understand also that it takes courage to stand above murderers and terrorists and say 'we reject your methods and refuse to take them as our own.  That said, we are concerned that the almost universal repugnance felt in Europe and elsewhere
for the continued application of the death penalty in certain American states may also have economic consequences. Europe is the foremost foreign investor in Texas.  Many companies, under pressure
from shareholders and public opinion to apply ethical business practices are beginning to consider
the possibly of restricting investment in the US to states that do not apply the death penalty." 06/25/98
