JOHN ALBA Hello! My name is John Alba, and I am
a Texas death row inmate at the Terrell Unit
(A.K.A. "Terrible Terrell") in Livingston Texas, (death row formally
housed at the Ellis One Unit in Huntsville Texas, but was moved to
Terrell Unit
in March 3rd, 2000.) On August 28th, 2000, I was given a partial
reversal on my case by the federal courts after 8 and a half years of
battle. They sent my case back to state trial court for a re-sentencing
trial. However, I did not have the time to raise enough
money
to hire a competent lawyer, and so my pen-friend Amy
Greene, along with my daughter Sabrina have opened two accounts (one in
America and one in England) to help raise money to pay for a competent
lawyer
to represent me through my appeals. In this we hope to avoid getting
the
death penalty being carried out. So, here we are asking for your help
and
donations to do so. Thank you for your help. In 1997, Texas
set a U.S. Nation record by executing 37 men in one year. Today,
December
the 5th, 2000, Texas has broken it's own record by
executing the 38th man this year. Another
execution
is scheduled for tomorrow, Dec 6th and one on Dec 7th.

celebrated my 20th birthday on Halloween (1999). I'm around 5' 7", 135-140

can be honest without causing hurt or pain. They can depend on

JOSEPH NICHOLS BEY I've been incarcerated for 19
years. My nationality is African American. Considering the way
things usually go with the Appeals process, mine has come along okay
and I have some competent and dedicated Attorneys, so I'm not looking
for any assistance in that area. I've kind of hit a wall so to
speak, mentally. I don't find too much to laugh or smile at or
for. I'm lonely and desperately need someone to help lift me up
out of this void, bring a little sunshine into my existence. If

CARL BROOKS Greetings to all; My
name is Mr. Carl Brooks, I'm a 28 year old Black man. I have been
on Texas' Death Row since July 1st, 1997. I am fighting my case
and getting ready to enter the Federal Courts, I have some VERY STRONG
APPEAL ISSUES, but I lack the support I need to get things done, that
I'm sure will help FREE ME. Last year I was given an Evidentiary
Hearing and the State's main witness "recanted" their trial
testimony. 1) One witness came to the hearing and stated
that he was pressured and threatened by the police. Said that if
he didn't cooperate and testify against me, they would charge him with
the crime. He came to my original trial and refused to testify
and the judge held him in Contempt of Court and threw him in
jail. The next day he came back and testified. His original
and recanted testimony is part of the court record.
2) The state's
main witness also recanted his testimony. He testified on 2
previous
occasions that I was the shooter, but at my hearing he testified that
he
told his mother that he was unsure as to who was the shooter and in
fact,
didn't know my name until he heard it from the police investigating the
murder. The police also locked him up to make sure he would
testify.
While awaiting my trial, he sent me a signed affidavit saying that he
lied.
And also when I went back to the County Jail for the hearing he sent me
another letter apologizing. Its all in the record too. 3)
They
found some blood soaked clothes and a shoe they said was mine.
They
got a court order for my blood and the test came back negative. 4) My
Constitutional
Rights. Santiago Garcia, a juror in my trial was arrested at the Bexar
County Justice Center Security Checkpoint the day of my punishment
phase.
In his briefcase he was carrying a loaded Beretta 25 caliber
handgun.
The gun was fully loaded, cocked with a bullet in the chamber. He
claimed that he was going to take the gun to a gun smith because it was
not ejecting. The Deputy sheriff that arrested him found nothing
wrong
with the gun. Juror Garcia was arrested and only charged with a
Misdemeanor.
My prosecutor, Mark Luitjen, knew about the incident but failed
to get involved in the incident or see that Garcia was charged
with a Felony as opposed
to a Misdemeanor, because he knew that a Felony conviction would be
automatic grounds for a
mistrial. Juror Garcia, also gave another statement to the judge
that he was returning from a business trip and forgot he had the gun in
his briefcase. The day of my punishment phase juror
Garcia was processed right there in the Justice Center (Bexar
County),
instead of being taken to the county jail. Then was allowed to
sit
as a juror in my trial the same day. I have all this in my and
evidentiary hearings Transcripts that I have been trying to get for
over a year
now. All I'm seeking is a little support and I'm sure I can get
what I deserve, a REVERSAL AND BE SET A FREE MAN. Visit

to Texas Governor George Bush, Alan Donnelly, Chairman
of the European
Parliament's Delegation for Relations, wrote the following:
"We understand that
this is a complex and emotive issue, and I do not propose to rehearse
here the arguments that, for us, make legal execution unacceptable
under
any circumstances. Suffice it to say that we believe the death penalty
amounts to retribution rather than deterrence and that its use always
carries with it the risk that an innocent person may die. We understand also that it takes courage to stand
above
murderers and terrorists and say 'we reject your methods and refuse to
take them as our own. That said, we are concerned that
the
almost universal repugnance felt in Europe and elsewhere
for the continued
application of the death penalty in certain American states may also
have economic consequences. Europe is the foremost foreign investor in
Texas. Many companies, under pressure
from
shareholders and public opinion to apply ethical business practices are
beginning to consider
the
possibly of restricting investment in the US to states that do not
apply the death penalty." 06/25/98
