Revolutionist, Political Agitator, Brigand, trouble making extremist,
murderer and I have been slated for death. For 17 plus years I
have been a political prisoner here on Florida's Death Row. My
mighty spirit is presently distraught. With the precarious nature
of my current state of being, it is impossible for
it not to be. A bloodthirsty government with the blessing of
an
unjust judicial system is trying to murder me. Sadists in
uniforms canvas the halls both here at this
concentration camp and the Department of Corrections in the State
Capitol, with the sole purpose of discovering new and
additional ways to cause me physical and mental anguish
and
despair. I bear the awesome weight of my own impending state-
sanctioned murder upon my broad
but steadily sagging shoulders. I have no caring family members
left. The Creator saw that
it wasn't good for man to be alone and created woman to be his
helpmate; his partner in life. I am living against the
laws of nature, I am a man without a woman. For over 17 years,
almost
half of my life, this has been my existence. This can't possibly
be right or just, I know that it
isn't. Every day I experience another loss of some kind.
Every single day I think of my freedom
and my life. I don't have anyone to help me reclaim my freedom
and take back my life. It HURTS and it hurts
bad. I am a good man. I don't profess sainthood but I have
never done anything to hurt anyone who
didn't hurt or try to hurt me first. I am a selfless man, I care
about
other people a great deal and try to show it by my actions. Now I
wonder why I am here alone. I am also beginning to
realize that my number one priority has to be reclaiming my
freedom
and taking my life back from these people. If I am dead what else
could possibly matter ? I've heard it said that

STEVE STEIN Greetings. My name is Steve Stein and
I've spent the past nine years in a 7x9 cage on Florida's death
row.
For most of these I didn't want to write strangers. I didn't feel
that way because I'm anti social, nor did I want to do the time
alone.
No, I avoided this because I'm sentenced to death.
I
really didn't want to drag anyone through that with me, and I have to
admit this is still a concern of mine as I write these lines. The
truth is that being sentenced to death means just that, and there is a
possibility I will be executed. That may not happen, and I'm
certainly
hoping it doesn't, but I don't want anyone fooling themselves. I
bering this up so that someone interested in writing knows what could
lay
at the end of the line. Personally I get more upset when bad
things
happen to people I care about, than I ever
could about my own problems. I suspect this is probably true of
most decent people, and I don't want you to write if you know you
couldn't become close to me, and still deal with a possible bad
end. That being said, I finally decided to place this ad because
it is difficult living like this day in and day out, and it would make
a positive difference
in my life to have someone I could talk to, and ideally become friends
with. For anyone interested let me say a little about
myself.
I am 31 years old, 6'0, 175 lbs, blond hair / blue eyes. I know
I'm probably supposed to talk about my interests, but to be honest I
find
that kind of funny. Don't get me wrong, there's all sorts of
things
I do find interesting, and they provide many fond memories, but the
reality
is that I'm not able to pursue much in here. What I do now is a
lot
of reading - mainly non fiction, but I have nothing against a good
novel.
I figured out a long time ago that while they could keep me locked up,
that
didn't mean that I couldn't make the most of my time. I
feel
I've educated myself over the years, and while I'm definitely not a
genius,
I do think I can carry on an interesting conversation with whoever
writes.
I'm idealistic, and despite what goes on in my life, some of it
obviously
troubling, I'm still concerned about events in the free world.
Whatever
else could be said about me, I'm convinced that this is a good
quality.
Its somewhat harder to define the type of person I'd like to
write.
I could just say I prefer good people, but I suppose most of you
bothering
to read this fall into that category. More specifically, I am
looking
for someone who will stick with it. If for whatever reason we're
unable
to get along initially - then fine, no hard feelings. What I
don't
want however, is someone who just up and quits writing, forgetting
friends
in the same way they might forget about last years fashion, or some
such.
I'm not necessarily condemning such people, as I know how hectic life
can
get out there. Many in prison would welcome such a friendship,
and
a little happiness in their lives, for whatever length of time - but
that's
not what I'm looking for. I guess what I'm saying is I'd prefer a
person with a mature outlook. I'm only 31 - young in some
eyes, even if
it doesn't feel that way - but living like this gives you certain
attitudes that are anything but immature. I'd like someone who
shares that
sort of mind frame. You never know how anything will work out
until
you experience it, but ideally,
I
just hope to find a person who will become a friend, someone I'll care
about, and who will do the same for me. For my part I'm a good
listener,
and I would be there for someone wanting that - and really most people
could use a sympathetic ear, anyone reading this who thinks I'm worthy
of writing to, I'm willing if you are. If you'll give me a chance
to be a part of your life, I'll give you the chance to be part of
mine. I can't predict how things will turn
out but hopefully it will be a positive experience for both of

Hello world ! I am JT, divorced easy going person, and a

Death Row, since Oct. 7th, 1999 under a sentence of death for a crime I
did NOT commit. I have been working hard at proven my innocence,
and know one day I will be freed from this injustice. Death row
is a place many guys are optimistic, and have hopes, dreams, and a
strong will to aid themselves in contending with facts of being
sentenced to death, and the suffering of abandonment of family and
friends because they
can't for one reason or another bear the burdens associated with
capital punishment.
By which the prisoner loses the support that is badly needed, and he
starts
to lose faith that there is a world outside of this hell he lives.
Here
a prisoner is confined to one man cell 24 hours a day, unless the
inmate
is summoned by prison officials, the medical dept., go to a one man
shower
cell, recreation twice a week for two hours, or if lucky occasionally
recieve
a visit. Day to day activities generally include: talking,
playing
chess, reading, writing letters to whoever and overworked lawyers. If
the
prisoner has the funds in his account, he can buy a TV/and or radio,
and
to purchase canteen to counterbalance the poor diet. Life does
get
very lonely here. Please do write!

I would like to add... I am a straight forward and honest individual

a great sense of humor and would like to establish friendships with

Greetings! My name is Joel D. Wright, I am 42, 5'8", 150 lbs,
W/M. I have been on the Row since 1983. While on the Row my
outside contacts have eroded over the years by death or
disinterest. Although my case us an on-going appeal, its hard to
keep a positive attitude when you feel alone and destitute. I am
looking for someone (anyone) to help me endure this madness I find
myself caught up in. I have many interests of which only a
few I can actually do which include reading, music (all), chess,
watching
TV, and working on trying to obtain my freedom back. My passion
is
the outdoors (smile) I love camping, fishing, swimming, and nature in
general. I am not a real good writer, but am honest and sincere
and although I don't play prison games I find myself unable to work and
support myself (confined 24 hours) So I am in dire need of a little
financial help (for basic prison life necessities.) I would
sincerely like to hear from anyone who may be interested in starting a

LIFE ON FLORIDA'S DEATH
ROW
In
reality, Florida has three Death Rows. Fifty-four condemned men are
housed in a special wing at Florida State Prison near Starke. The
remaining 320 men are incarcerated in a building at Union Correctional
Institution in
nearby Raiford. The six women on Death Row
are
at Broward Correctional Institution near Pembroke Pines.
Executions
are conducted at Florida State Prison.
Here are some other facts:
* The cells: A day-to-day cell on Death Row measures 6 feet wide
by 9 feet long by 9.5
feet high; the
death-watch cell, where an inmate is placed once the governor
signs
a death warrant, measures 12 feet by 7 feet wide by 8.5 feet
* Meals: Three a day served on trays at 5 a.m., 10:30-11 a.m. and
4-4:30
* Exercise: Twice a week for two hours in exercise yard.
* Visitors: Allowed weekends from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., unless
visitor lives more than 200
miles away, then visitor can visit both Saturday and Sunday.
* Showers: One every other day.
* Clothing: Orange T-shirts and blue pants.
* Entertainment: Inmates can have a black & white TV --
no cable -- radios, snacks and
cigarettes in
their cells. They receive mail every day except holidays and
weekends. Church services available on closed-circuit television.
* Security: Inmates are escorted everywhere in handcuffs and many
times in shackles.
