RONALD SCHACKERT I have found for the most part that i really enjoy writing to people.  I'm enclosing a copy a photo of myself that was taken sometime in 1994 or 1995:  i no longer have the moustache,  and instead of a chambray shirt and blue jeans, they now force us to wear bright orange jump-suits...   I think that it's important that people know that I've accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour, and as such, I am not looking for "nasty" girls to write to (I'm sure that this strikes you as odd, but I do prefer to write to women over writing to men, in case there's any doubt there !) ; I do enjoy corresponding with other Christians whether or not they believe in the death penalty. (They can always change their minds !)  I am caucasian; my birthdate is 12/03/62.  since the Arizona Department of Corrections moved us to this "Special Management Unit II", I've gained ALOT of weight, because there isn't a whole lot to do to keep myself physically active and because I DESPISE exercise !   I used to be in the Arizona Army National Guard (Field Artillery), so I know all about exercise something I had to do in order to get paid back then.

My name is Bernard Smith and I'm a 46 year old black man on death row in Arizona State Prison.
"A Plea"  This is more of an urgent plea than a question or request as my community ties are virtually none.   I've been on death row for 16 years fighting for a new trial as I truly don't belong here.  I've been studying law for several years as I've come to learn you only receive the amount of justice that you can afford in America.   Much like everything else I guess.  Studying law is how I occupy my time and mind, but without communication outside of the place becomes suffocating.  Death Row is the epitome of loneliness and despair for anyone to conceive, even in a mere dream, to share views and opinions with others can shed light where now there is only darkness.  DEATH ROW ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED TO MAKE HOBBY CRAFTS BUT I USED TO MAKE KEYCHAINS TO HELP WITH MY LEGAL WORK AS I DO MY OWN.   I do have a photocopy of the keychains.
